Licensed BSIS guards for downtown tech offices, retail corridors, and residential communities in Silicon Valley
Redwood City is San Mateo County's county seat and one of the Peninsula's significant technology and professional-services hubs. Major technology companies , including Oracle's long-established headquarters campus , and a growing roster of tech tenants fill the office parks and buildings around the Caltrain station and the city's commercial core. Downtown Redwood City has developed an active retail and entertainment district alongside the corporate base. Active mixed-use and transit-oriented development continues near the Caltrain corridor. Each property type , large corporate campus, downtown retail, active construction site , has its own access control and patrol requirements.
ShieldWise Security holds California BSIS Private Patrol Operator license #122008. Redwood City is an active service area for our Bay Area officers , we write post orders specific to the property and its environment.
Technology company offices, corporate campuses, and business parks near the Caltrain station. Lobby access control, visitor and contractor management, and after-hours patrol with digital shift logs.
Downtown Redwood City's retail and entertainment district , restaurants, theaters, and specialty retail , with a visible deterrent presence, parking-lot patrol, and incident reporting.
Mixed-use and transit-oriented development projects around the Caltrain corridor, with construction-phase security and ongoing access management as phases complete.
Active construction sites with gate access logging, after-hours patrols, and fire watch with a documented shift log where required under California Fire Code 901.7.
Every contract starts with a walk-through. We document the property's entry points, lobbies, parking, lighting, and hours that carry risk, then write post orders specific to the site. For corporate and tech campus posts, officers are briefed on lobby access protocol, visitor and contractor check-in, and the professional conduct appropriate for a technology-company environment. For downtown retail and entertainment posts, briefings cover de-escalation, parking-lot patrol, and loss-prevention awareness. Incidents are documented during the shift, reviewed by a supervisor, and delivered on the schedule set in the contract.
ShieldWise Security holds California BSIS PPO #122008. Every officer carries a valid guard card (Business and Professions Code Section 7583.6). Armed posts are staffed only where the contract requires and the officer holds a valid BSIS Exposed Firearms Permit (Business and Professions Code Sections 7583.22–7583.23)
Emergencies: ShieldWise Security provides private security , not police, medical, fire, or emergency first-responder services. In any active emergency, call 911 first.
"Redwood City mixes major tech campus footprints with an active downtown entertainment district and ongoing construction. Each of those environments needs a separate post order. The officer covering a corporate lobby and the officer patrolling a construction site should not be operating from the same brief."

Redwood City is the seat of San Mateo County and one of the more dynamic downtowns on the Peninsula, with the county courthouse, an entertainment district of theaters and restaurants, and steady office development. Out at Redwood Shores, a cluster of major technology campuses, including Oracle's longtime campus, Electronic Arts, and Nintendo of America, sits along the bay, and the Port of Redwood City is the only deepwater port in the South Bay. That spread, civic downtown, waterfront tech campuses, and a working port, makes for a wide security range.
On a tech campus, the after-hours job is the garages, the perimeter, and the loading areas, covered on timed vehicle patrol with GPS-logged rounds, plus access control and a clean visitor log at the lobby. Downtown, with its courthouse, nightlife, and offices, calls for a visible, de-escalation-first unarmed officer who can read a crowd and document clearly. Port and industrial property needs gate control and fence-line patrol. Construction security recurs with downtown development.
On location: ShieldWise is a California-licensed Private Patrol Operator, PPO #122008, headquartered in Riverside, not Redwood City. We serve the city on a contract and project basis, no local office claimed. Our unarmed officers observe, document, report, and escalate; they aren't a substitute for the police.
We cover Redwood Shores technology campuses, the downtown civic and entertainment district, the Port of Redwood City, and commercial and construction sites along Interstate 101. Officers provide access control with garage and perimeter patrol for tech campuses, unarmed patrol with incident reporting for the downtown entertainment area, construction site security, and shift documentation logged through GuardTrac.

Get a Free Quote Contact UsRedwood City's tech offices, downtown retail, and residential communities each carry distinct patrol and access-control requirements. The walk-through documents what applies to this specific property before any post order is written.
We document entry points, lighting, blind spots, prior incident history if the property has it, and the hours that actually carry risk.
From that walk-through we write post orders specific to the site, so the officer is not improvising.
Officers log patrol activity through our GuardTrac digital reporting system and write up incidents during the shift, not after.
A supervisor reviews those reports, and you receive them on the schedule set in the contract.
For anything serious, you get a phone call the same shift, not a summary three days later.
"Redwood City tech office clients often have after-hours access requirements tied to their own internal security protocols. We document those during the walk-through and incorporate them into the post order so our coverage works with the building's existing procedures."
